Phishing Emails
I’m writing a brief note about receiving emails from AMA board members. It’s important to use common sense when you receive any email asking for money or financial assistance. If someone from the AMA requests money, gift cards, or payments via PayPal, Venmo, or any other method, do not respond. If you are unsure about the legitimacy of the email, you can quickly verify it by checking the email address from which it was sent. Typically, the email address will appear suspicious, often coming from a random name and a generic .com domain. I personally receive between 5 to 10 phishing emails daily, and at times, I've seen upwards of 50 in a single day.
